About GRP (Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic)

(GRP, Glassfiber Reinforced Plastic)

Glass fiber is a product made from very fine glass components.

This product is increasingly used in insulation and in woven fabrics, and it is also used as reinforcement in the manufacture of plastics.

Products such as GRP (plastic reinforced with glass fiber) also known colloquially as fiberglass.

Glass fiber is formed into GRP products with polyester resin or vinyl ester resin using various methods (laying by hand, SMC, BMC, RTM, winding processes or infusion processes).

The liquefaction of glass parts and the subsequent distribution through small holes is called an infusion process.

Since the insulation properties of GRP are very high, it is often used as an insulation material.

Due to its high rigidity, GRP is also often used in the manufacture of composite materials.

The GRP as it is used today was developed towards the end of 1930.
